Job Description

Regional Director of Operations

We are Wayfair; we deliver a best-in-class customer experience in the furniture and home space because of people like you, who are driven, determined, collaborative, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. In order to maintain our high level of delivery standards and meet our customer’s needs, the Wayfair Fulfillment team plays a key role in improving customer satisfaction and driving repeat business. We’ve been busy building a best-in-class fulfillment network that allows us to delight customers by speeding up deliveries, adding services, and reducing damage using our own physical, asset-based warehouses. We are looking for talented hard-working individuals to join our growing team – your professional home awaits you at Wayfair!

What You'll Do

  • The position will require a strategic leader to both develop and manage large teams over multiple sites; handling both small parcel and freight products for the leading home furnishings and décor site; Wayfair.com.
  • Drive creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives and other Lean initiatives to enable their functional area and ultimately the fulfillment center to meet and exceed business plans
  • Manage special projects to gather insights into the business and fulfillment center performance; contributing to the critical initiatives of the broader operations group. Learn new workflow technologies and make data driven decisions for project deliverables
  • Monitor and drive key service level metrics for fulfillment to ensure that we are providing excellent customer experience and delivering on our promise
  • Establish sound process improvement initiatives that drive year over year improvement, as well as streamline and optimize day-to-day operations
  • Responsibility for the overall safety, quality, performance and customer experience of the fulfillment center operations
  • Oversee multiple implementations and site realignments across a designated region
  • Drive cost improvement activities by identifying system improvements, headcount optimization, and improved square footage utilization opportunities.
  • Problem solve situations; requiring extensive use of data collection and analysis
  • Manage multiple priorities in a face-paced environment with effective communication and thorough follow through

What You'll Need

  • 10+ years work experience or 5+ years post MBA experience preferred
  • 7+ years of e-commerce, supply chain, operations, or logistics experience managing large scale; multi site operations. Strong process, manufacturing or engineering background with Six Sigma/Lean experience preferred
  • Experience with complex operational, process, and performance improvement projects (lean or six sigma experience highly valued) including process mapping and process re-design
  • Ability to think both creatively and critically—willing to think outside the box and challenge the status quo, while also fairly evaluating all possible solutions in making strategic decisions.
  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous, entrepreneurial and subjective environment that balances operational efficiency and data analysis with high quality standards and a sense of what is “right” for the customer and supplier.
  • Proven experience and passion for working across functions and with c-level leaders, synthesizing multiple points of view and owning a coherent action plan, all while negotiating and influencing others
  • Ability to hit the ground running – a confident, entrepreneurial self-starter with the ability to manage and prioritize projects to delegate tasks appropriately
  • Technologically savvy, collaborative confident leader, familiarity with google suite products a plus
  • Proven success in developing ideas into executable projects with measurable outcomes.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to tailor communication style based on the audience
  • Demonstrated leadership in building a culture of Continuous Improvement for process and operations
