Job Description

The “Senior JavaScript Engineer” focuses the majority (~70%) of their time developing UI components and complex customer/user tools. JS engineers coordinate with product, design, and engineering teams to build and iterate on customer/user experiences. Senior JS engineers utilize their expertise in modern development standards to ensure performant, reliable, and scalable front-end applications and help raise the bar of their teams in these areas. Understanding of and contributing to the development of back-end services and APIs is also required.

What You'll Do

  • Write scalable, performant, and accessible JavaScript, HTML, and CSS utilizing modern development standards and best-practices
  • Develop React applications and maintain state using Redux/Apollo for complex user interfaces
  • Work closely with product and design teams to help drive innovation and improved customer/user experiences
  • Mentor other engineers on your team by encouraging and teaching good development patterns and best practices
  • Contribute to engineering initiatives, processes, and coding patterns to improve performance, stability, and scalability
  • Write tests for your code to ensure stability and maintainability
  • Do code reviews for other members of your engineering team(s)
  • Create new and modify existing backend APIs for client access

What You'll Need

  • Expertise in modern JavaScript development standards and best practices (ES6)
  • Experience with at least one JavaScript framework (React, Angular, Vue, etc)
  • Experience with a state management library preferred (Redux, MobX, Apollo, etc)
  • Experience with a unit testing framework (Jest, Jasmine, Mocha, etc)
  • Working knowledge of CSS and semantic HTML
  • Experience developing responsive UIs across desktop and mobile platforms
  • Some experience with an object-oriented programming language (PHP, Java, C++, Python, etc)
