Job Description

Multiple Openings. Software Engineer III (Operational Engineering/Contact Us) for Wayfair LLC in Boston, MA to design, develop, and build customer-facing account, contact, and help pages utilizing modern web technologies to guide customers to the appropriate contact channels and develop and maintain integrations with contact channel platforms including phone, email, chat, and SMS; build intelligent routing based on customer issue, order history, and current wait times; perform web development using object-oriented programming with tools such as PHP and Java; utilize code performance reporting and monitoring tools; mentor junior software developers; plan and scope engineering projects utilizing Agile software development workflow.  Requires Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus two years of experience performing object-oriented design and development of web platform applications or, alternatively, a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and five years of experience performing object-oriented design and development of web platform applications. One year of experience must include: Performing web application development using object-oriented programming languages and SQL; Performing version control using GIT; Designing back-end /server-side applications using object-oriented programming language such as PHP, Java, or Python; Employing engineering and optimization best practices regarding code maintainability, scalability and performance; Defining test plans and performing unit testing; Performing SQL database development including designing queries, triggers and stored procedures, performance tuning, and performing data ETL; Performing performance optimization using SQL; Interfacing with business product leaders and engineers to gather requirements and translate requirements into system design; and Performing software development methodologies using Agile.
