Job Description

Multiple Openings. Software Engineer III (Operational Engineering/TRNS LineHaul Tools) for Wayfair LLC in Boston, MA to perform design, implementation, testing and maintenance of software systems to support our proprietary Transportation network; maintain existing software to allow it to handle increasing loads and process new data; develop algorithms such as Opl estimates to enhance accuracy of estimates and reduce shipping costs; develop applications using Object Oriented Programming, PHP, MS SQL Server, and MVC framework, with backbone and react frameworks for client side JavaScript; modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new business requirements, and improve performance; enhance the communication between Transportation and Warehouse Management systems to enable better accuracy of data; create reporting tools to provide stakeholders with visibility into transportation metrics; ensure that developed applications meet short-term and long-term business needs.

Requirements: Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus two years of experience performing PHP, HTML, and JavaScript design and development or, alternatively, a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and five years of experience performing PHP, HTML, and JavaScript design and development. One year of experience must include: Performing full-stack web development using PHP, JavaScript. JQuery, Mustache, and Handlebars, to ensure cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility; Performing scripting using Python; Performing version control using GIT and SVN; Performing design and development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create scalable applications; Designing back-end applications using PHP and SQL; Employing engineering and optimization best practices regarding frontend web standards, code maintainability, page rendering, and browser performance; Defining test plans and performing unit testing; Performing SQL database development including designing, queries, triggers and stored procedures, performance tuning; Utilizing Jenkins and Puppet to deploy application code into server environments; and Interfacing with business product leaders and engineers to gather requirements and translate requirements into system design.
